Google’s latest alogirthm update: Fred

Usually, Google now remains tight-lipped about the changes they make to their algorithm. In the first week of March 2017, many websites noticed a major drop in their traffic and rankings as well. The new algorithm update by Google has been named as Fred and has primarily targeted such websites which have low-quality content and those who have created low-quality links.

They haven’t given much information regarding this update and haven’t shared much about the update in details. It has been said that those websites which had low-quality content and low quality backlinks meant for driving revenue have been the most affected by this new update rolled out by Google. Any SEO Company in Delhi which wants to check Fred updates should take all the steps to verify the details.

As already mentioned above, the first factor is content. In case your website’s content was written before the year 2014 you might have been targeted. Make sure that your content is not outdated and should be valuable from a reader’s perspective otherwise this could be the major reason for a major drop in the rankings.

If you would want to stay away from a Fred penalty, the best way is to focus on creating high quality and original content on the website. In case you have a lot of old content on your website, you need to wake up fast and go back through while optimizing the pages to meet quality standards. You should also make sure that you are not following black hat techniques at all or SEO techniques which are out of date and primitive. Focus on creating quality content for your website.

Websites having low quality backlinks have been affected by the Fred update. Websites with outdated content since years also do have many old backlinks. Usually old backlinks with low quality websites go together. Due to this it makes it difficult to determine the main factor out of these two for being responsible for the drop in the rankings.

Here are few things which can be done by a website in case it is affected by the Fred update and can begin recovering lost rankings and traffic:

Take a look at the Analytics. Observe carefully your Google Analytics data. If you see a considerable drop in the traffic or in the number of keywords, then you might have to take some steps for recovering your rankings.
Start recreating your content for your website and for improving the quality.
Also, use a backlink checker or tool to check whether there are low quality or questionable links.
Make sure that all your remaining links are naturally build without any spams and are within reasonable ratios. You should start doing this process on those web pages which were driving the highest traffic before Fred was introduced.
